Kevil Talarin

Kevil is a Bard, a master of both instruments and languages. He grew up in Alanis, an enormous and wealthy oasis city. He was fascinated with music from an early age, learning to play a simple reed flute at the tender age of four and composing his first song when he was seven - it commemorated his sister Aylin's fifth birthday.

When Kevil was nineteen, Aylin died from a serious and debilitating fever. The next year, his bardic patron, the powerful chaos mage Vasiliy Antonov, was killed, and Kevil joined forces with Antonov's apprentice Zoya and another of his beneficiaries, Darin Silkfingers, to track down the killer. The three of them became lovers, forming a rare and precious bond which allowed them to share life energies.

Darin died during the final battle, but Kevil and Zoya travelled several years longer as spelljammers, finally parting ways when Kevil's homesickness and Zoya's wanderlust could no longer be compromised.

Kevil came looking for Zoya when the bond they shared (even after they parted) disappeared. He found her with a new lover and no interest in sharing her life with him as anything more intimate than a dear friend. He isn't precisely stranded in Marsember, but he hasn't yet worked out what it is he wants to do next, and Marsember is as good a place to wait as any while he considers the problem.

Kevil is an extremely friendly and outgoing person who enjoys overblown, flowery language. He is very handsome, and his flatteries and somewhat unusual moral standards have been known to get him into trouble - and this despite his almost neurotic desire not to offend anyone!

Kevil has made friends with just about everyone in Marsember that he's met, the one outstanding exception being Lisl Ferrinsdottir, who mistrusts his easy openness and ready flattery. They have achieved a sort of uneasy truce, and he hopes to eventually win her respect and friendship.

Quite recently, Kevil has agreed - much to his delight - to marry Loria d'Nache, a priestess of Nacheyla and a talented minstrel.
