Missa Misalin is a citizen of Alanis, the oasis trading city in the heart of the Ven desert. She is a trainer and trader of horses, and good friends with both Kevil and Loria. She first met Kevil when she was only four or five, when he made friends with her father's Outlander apprentice (and her "adopted" big brother), Darin.

Missa is an avowed hedonist, determined to eke the most enjoyment possible from any given situation. Though not precisely pretty, her cheerful, outgoing, and almost universally affectionate personality has garnered her friends and lovers in every corner of her home city. As eager to give pleasure as receive it, she has earned a reputation among her friends for being a matchmaker - and a fairly successful one at that. Her effort to introduce her dear friend Diya into Kevil and Loria's hearts is only her latest triumph. (She is, however, not yet wed herself, despite her numerous lovers. All suggestions and inquiries in this direction have to date been met with a laugh, a careless flip of the hand, and the casual dismissal of, "Oh, I'm picky."

She favors bright colors - oranges, reds, and yellows which serve to accent her dusky, sun-darkened skin. She enjoys all manner of entertainment - especially those having to do with music - though she is an abysmal card player, and her favorite food is olives.
