Zoya is a wild mage, priestess, and (occasional) spelljammer currently living in Erdian's Tower in Marsember of Cormyr, although she was born on another world. Zoya's life consists of research and study (her magical specialties are scrying and magical/psionic conversions); training her apprentice (and adopted daughter), Glossaria; caring for the congregation of tinkergnomes who live in the basement; and - every once in a while - spending an evening at the Meade Hall.

Zoya is human, extremely tall (about 6'4"), very thin, and appears to be in her mid-to-late 30s. She has white hair (except for one lock of purple hair that emerges from behind her left ear), grey eyes, and very pale skin. She usually wears simple clothing, the only item of note a pair of manacles she wears on her wrists. The manacles are made of a silvery metal and engraved with arcane runes. Each manacle dangles a few chain links. If asked Zoya calls the manacles her chains of office.
