::Endue Jewelry looks far less splendid and charming than is had in the past, a simple closed sign hanging in the window::

* Tarri stops in front of the door, a look of dismay filling her face. She pouts briefly, then approaches anyway, peering through the windows hopefully.

* Caz walks up behind Tarri, "Hello. The shops closed to regular business, but I seem to remember that you were one of my first customers. Is there anything I can help you with."

<Tarri> ::jumps and spins at the voice from behind her:: OH! Oh, you startled me... ::she smiles:: Good day, Master Lavalier.

* Caz produces a key and unlocks the door. He's dressed in travelling cloths and looks very tired.

* Caz nods his head, "I'm afraid I've forgotten your name Miss..."

<Tarri> Mandeil. Tarri Mandeil... ::she looks at him with mild concern:: Are you all right? I can... I can come back later, if I'm terribly inconvenient just now.

* Caz shakes his head and smiles, "Not at all. I'm afraid I don't get much company since the shell went up." Gestures vaguely towards the sky.

* Caz holds the door open for Tarri, "Won't you come in?"

<Tarri> ::glances up almost as if she's expecting to see something, then nods and slips past Caz into the shop's interior:: Thank you... Are you helping with the shell, then? Do they know how much longer it will be?

* Caz shakes his head, "If they know they aren't telling me. I just go out there and do my part for the day and come home and try to recover. So what brings you by?"

<Tarri> Well... ::twists her hands uncertainly:: Cat said you sometimes have... magic items, you can sell...?

* Caz pulls the chair out from the desk and offers it to Tarri, "Yes. What are you looking for? If I remember correctly you had a fiance. Is it for him perchance?"

<Tarri> ::smiles briefly as she sits:: Yes, actually... He's been... Well, I don't want to call it *adventuring*, but helping out with things, and sometimes they're a little... well, a little risky. I was hoping you might have something that would help him stay safe." She smiles hopefully.

* Caz tilts his head, "That depends on what kind of danger you think he's in. Protecting against specific threats is generally more effective and easier than protecting someone from everything. What exactly does he do that you're concerned for him?"

<Tarri> ::bites her lip briefly:: Um... Lots of stuff... Mostly stopping stuff before it happens - putting out little fires before they get big, or stepping in to shut down arguments, stuff like that.

* Caz looks confused, "Fires makes him sound like a ranger, stopping arguments makes him sound like a guard."

<Tarri> ::nods:: I know, it's confusing... He's a wonderful woodsman, but all this recent stuff has been in the city. ::she smiles proudly:: He's a foreseer.

<Caz> One of those psionics Cat was telling me they have a school for?

<Tarri> ::smiles and nods::

<Caz> Hmm...I hate to ask this question, but it's an issue whenever magical items are involved...How much were you planning on spending on this?

<Tarri> ::bites her lip briefly and looks at him uncertainly:: H-how much is something likely to run? I have some money set aside, but I don't have any idea how much these sorts of things cost.

* Caz shrugs, "Depends on what you want. Obviously the fancier the jewelry the more expensive it will be. And of course, the more powerful the enchantment the more it will cost. I can sell you a bargain basement piece now for about two thousand gold...Or I can sell you a custom piece that will be as expensive as you're willing to go."

<Tarri> ::eyes widen:: So much? ::she bites her lip again, thinking::

<Tarri> It doesn't have to be fancy. In fact, for San, the simpler the better... ::she looks at him plaintively:: What... what would the piece for two thousand *do*?

* Caz shrugs his shoulders, "Not much. He'd find himself a little bit luckier than normal people when he's in danger, but that's about it. Could very easily not notice the effects at all."

<Tarri> ::frowns:: Forgive me, but... that doesn't sound like much for two thousand gold pieces. For that, I could buy us a whole *house*. A *nice* one.

* Caz nods, "I know, but that's the going rate for even a little edge that might save your life. Particularly when you think about how anyone can wear a ring or a necklace. It takes years to learn how to wear armor properly, and even then, there are situations where a cheap magic item can save your life when the armor wouldn't."

<Tarri> ::sighs and looks down at her hands, considering:: I... I guess I'll have to think about it for a while. I didn't think it would be *quite* so dear...

* Caz thinks a moment, "I can sell you something for one thousand, but it would provide even less protection."

<Tarri> ::smiles at him wryly:: Even less than "barely noticeable"? I can get that for free, Master Lavalier.

* Caz sighs, "I can't really afford to lower my prices much on these items, but we might be able to barter some kind of trade that doesn't involve money."

<Tarri> ::considers:: Well... I don't really have anything I can trade. ::she smiles:: Not unless you have a small child you've kept well-hidden.

* Caz chuckles, "If I do it's mother has failed to inform me of its existence."

<Tarri> ::smiles and stands:: Oh, well. I'd been hoping... ::she shrugs:: Well, I'll think about it and let you know, Master Lavalier. Thank you very much for seeing me.

* Caz shakes his head, "Not a problem. I'm sorry I wasn't able to help you...Do you need an escort home Miss Mandeil. Things have calmed down since the shell went up, but I'm still not sure I'd call the town safe."

<Tarri> ::smiles a little wider:: Oh, no, I haven't far to go, and you look like you need your rest dreadfully... Besides, ::she points at the healer's knot embroidered on the breast of her robe:: there aren't many who would risk offending a healer.

* Caz nods, "True, but those that would are the least savory of the lot. And I can still get my rest when I get back. Besides, I should find a meal, and I don't have the energy to cook."

<Tarri> If it would make you feel better, Master Lavalier, you can see me back to the temple.

* Caz smiles, "It would."

* Caz holds the door for Tarri, "After you Miss Mandeil."

* Tarri slips through the door onto the street and waits for Caz to lock up.

* Caz steps out, locks the door, and offers Tarri his arm, "Morning Lord's temple, or some other one?"

<Tarri> ::nods:: I'm at the Morninglord's, yes.

* Caz leads Tarri down the street.
